The idea was to create an explainer or a bumper video that was to be shown at the forefront of the (then)studio’s website.  I wanted the video to look very minimalistic and to give emphasis on the motion.  This was also at the time where I want to experiment more on frame-by-frame animation.  Basically, the video was conceived with the purpose of trying something new.

Implementation

With the goal of experimentation, we’ve created three demos.  This was in a time when we were trying to rebrand.  So, we were still brainstorming which illustration styles fit our brand.  In the end, we picked the third one for simplicity.

Credit to my good friend, Mark Abacajan, for creating the illustrations for Demo#1.

Decision

The final look that I chose was the the 3rd Demo which has a lighter tone to it.  I wanted it to be the representative illustration for our then studio for its simplicity and approachable vibe but still retain the sophistication through the colors and implementation of the light textures.

Demo #2

I was torn between this version and the Demo #3.  However, I feel that it does not represent what I want the studio’s tone to be.  I still like the implementation on this though.  I couldn’t just abandon it, so, I used the snippet we’ve completed for ads.

As this was close to being picked for production.  I figured I create a few more frames to check.

P.S.

You might have noticed that I’m lacking content for animation for Demo #3/Final Animation.  Well, file got corrupted as it was quite awhile ago now and couldn’t recover them, unfortunately. This project is quite close to my heart.  So, I could not resist to not share. 🙂
